Who is Sun Windows?
Sun Windows is a manufacturer of clad-wood, clad-vinyl and all-vinyl windows and doors for homes and light-commercial buildings. It builds its products in its Owensboro, Kentucky factory. Honey Rock Window and Door works with Sun and shows it on its partners page.
Sun says its heritage begins in 1930. In 1979, a group of investors purchased the Owensboro facilities and formed Sun Windows. The company entered the door market in the year 2000. Its address is 1515 E 18th St, Owensboro, KY 42303.
What does Sun make?
Sun sells four product lines in three materials. Windows come in all four. Doors come in clad wood. Use the table to see what each line is and where it fits.
| Line | Material | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| USA / Clad Wood | Wood interior, extruded aluminum-clad exterior | Clad wood windows |
| Patriot / Clad Vinyl | Vinyl interior, extruded aluminum-clad exterior | Casement and awning windows |
| Series 57 | All-vinyl, Sun’s main vinyl line | Double hung windows |
| Series 2020 | All-vinyl, Sun’s alternate vinyl line | Fixed and picture windows |
An aluminum-clad window has a metal skin outside to take sun, rain and hail, and a real wood or vinyl interior. The clad wood vs steel vs aluminum guide compares frame choices.
What window styles does Sun offer?
Sun makes awning, casement, double hung, single hung, fixed lite, bi-fold and shaped windows, and the styles vary by line. For example, Sun says it offers casement windows in three lines: USA / Clad Wood, Patriot / Clad Vinyl and Series 2020 All-Vinyl.
Sun’s pages disagree on which lines carry double hung windows. Its double hung page names USA / Clad Wood and Series 57, but a Patriot double hung page also exists. Ask Sun for the current list before you plan around a style. See casement and awning windows and double hung windows.
What doors does Sun offer?
Sun’s clad-wood doors come in swing, sliding and bi-fold styles. Swing doors are available in in-swing or out-swing configurations, and Sun also offers a traditional True French Door configuration. See French doors.
Sliding doors come as two-panel units, three-panel units, or four-panel units with two operating center panels. Bi-fold doors combine clad-wood panels with folding hardware developed by Centor Architectural. Bi-fold products require a 6-9/16 inch jamb depth, so tell your builder early. See folding doors and sliding doors.
Sun’s door pages do not list pivot, lift-and-slide or pocket multi-slide doors. For pivot doors, see Jada and Bertrand.
What glass does Sun use?
Sun says all its products use dual-glazed insulated glass as standard, and a triple glazed option has three pieces of glass and two 1/2 inch hermetically sealed airspaces. Sun doors include tempered insulated glass as standard. Learn more about IGU construction.
Sun’s Low-E² glass, called Sun Advantage 270, permits 70% of the sun’s visible light. Low-E coatings cut solar heat. Pair this with SHGC and U-factor targets for North Texas in the energy-efficient windows guide.
Sun explains NFRC and says it takes part in certification and testing programs. It says its products are tested and rated following the 101/I.S.2/A440-08 standard. Sun’s web pages list no U-factors, so ask for the NFRC label data on your unit.
What finishes does Sun offer?
Sun’s extruded aluminum clad exterior is finished with high durability powder coating. Sun states that it no longer offers painted vinyl options. Sun’s exterior colors page is marked as discontinued as of July 2026, so confirm the current color program before you choose.
What warranty does Sun publish?
Sun publishes its warranty on its site, and the terms differ by line and use. This table shows the residential clad wood terms and the vinyl sash and frame terms as published. Read the full warranty page before you rely on any term.
