French door

A French door is a pair of glazed, hinged doors that open from the center with no post between them.

French doors have glass in most of each panel and swing on side hinges. Both leaves open, so the center is clear. They work for patios, dining rooms and offices, indoors or out.

Sun Windows notes that its in-swing and out-swing doors are also available in a traditional styled True French Door configuration. Choose in-swing or out-swing based on space and weather. A pivot door or a lift-and-slide door suit very wide openings better. See our French doors page. Ask whether the door has a fixed or movable center leaf and how it locks.
