Jada: thermally broken steel windows and doors

Jada builds narrow-sightline thermally broken steel windows and doors in California. Honey Rock Window and Door works with Jada for Dallas and Fort Worth projects.

Jada is a California maker of thermally broken steel windows and doors. Its line has four families, swing, slide, fold and pivot, all built on narrow Secco OS2 steel profiles. Jada publishes NFRC sample ratings but no sightline widths, maximum sizes or product warranty, so ask for those in writing.

Who is Jada Windows?

Jada is a manufacturer of thermally broken steel windows and doors with its address in Grass Valley, California. The company says it makes everything it sells in California. Honey Rock Window and Door works with Jada and shows it on its partners page.

Jada’s published address is 124 Clydesdale Ct., Grass Valley, CA 95945. Jada’s own pages give different company ages, so this page does not state one. Ask Jada for its history if that matters to your project. See all partners on the partners page.

What does Jada make?

Jada sorts its line into four families by how the unit opens: swing, slide, fold and pivot. Each family uses the same narrow steel profile. That keeps sightlines consistent when a project mixes windows, doors and a folding wall.

Family What it includes Where it fits
Swing Outswing and inswing doors and windows, awning, hopper, fixed French-style door pairs, casement and awning windows
Slide Bottom roll, Zero Gravity, Lift Slide, Top Hung Sliding and lift-slide doors
Fold Outswing folding doors and windows Folding doors
Pivot Vertical pivot doors, horizontal pivot windows Pivot doors

Two details stand out. The bottom roll slider uses a floor track that rises only 3/16 inch above the finished floor and includes a continuous drain. Pivot windows can be squares, rectangles, ovals or full circles. Jada lists Lift Slide, Zero Gravity, Top Hung and inswing folding units, but the details for those were not readable when Honey Rock reviewed the site. Ask for specifics.

What is Jada’s steel made of?

Jada builds with Secco OS2 thermally broken steel profiles. A thermal break is a barrier inside the frame that slows heat flow between outside and inside metal. Jada describes it as two halves of the profile joined with a pressure infused polyurethane thermal barrier.

Thermally broken steel gives you a thin frame with a slim sightline, meaning the visible width of the frame. Jada calls its profiles narrow but publishes no width. Read more in thermally broken steel and the steel windows and doors guide.

What glass and performance data does Jada publish?

Jada publishes sample NFRC ratings for four unit types. The glass is an insulated unit of 1/4 inch over 1/4 inch with a Technoform TGI spacer and argon fill. Each pair below is U-factor first, then SHGC. Lower U-factor means less heat loss.

Unit Clear, no grid Clear, simulated divided lite IS20, no grid IS20, simulated divided lite
Outswing door 0.33 / 0.31 0.36 / 0.28 0.29 / 0.31 0.31 / 0.27
Outswing window 0.37 / 0.28 0.40 / 0.26 0.33 / 0.27 0.35 / 0.25
Folding door 0.34 / 0.32 0.35 / 0.28 0.30 / 0.31 0.32 / 0.27
Sliding door 0.37 / 0.32 0.39 / 0.29 0.32 / 0.31 0.35 / 0.28

These are samples from Jada’s energy values page. Your project label depends on the glass you choose. Learn how to read one in how to read an NFRC label, and see SHGC and U-factor for Texas for what these numbers mean in North Texas.

Jada’s glazing page says Agnora glass can make tempered insulated glass in very large sizes, up to 130 x 300. It also states that the optimum gap between panes for air and argon is around 1/2 inch up to 5/8 inch. Divided lites come as true divided lites or simulated divided lites. Jada does not publish impact ratings, so do not assume a rating for storm or hail use. See glass options.

What finishes and hardware does Jada offer?

Jada zinc coats every component after welding, drilling and machining. It then applies a patina or satin clear coat, and it offers Tnemec color matching in a durable polymer paint for opaque colors. Brass finishes are also available.

For hardware, Jada lists levers and knobs from Rocky Mountain Hardware or Sun Valley Bronze as standard. Its swing doors come with multipoint locking installed. For door pairs, the same multipoint locking goes into the inactive door.

What should you ask before ordering Jada?

Ask for the facts Jada does not publish. A short list keeps your architect and your builder on the same page.

  1. What are the exact sightline widths for each frame, mullion and sash?
  2. What is the maximum size for each unit type in your plan?
  3. What is the warranty, in writing, for finish, glass seal and hardware?
  4. Can the door sit on a covered area only? Jada says pivot doors suit covered areas unless special sill drainage is provided.
  5. What is the lead time, and what are the shipping and delivery steps to Dallas?
  6. What are the NFRC ratings for the glass package you picked?

The steel vs aluminum guide explains the trade-offs between frame materials before you commit.

Questions people ask

Where does Jada make its windows and doors?

Jada says: "We manufacture, here in California, everything that we sell." Its published address is 124 Clydesdale Ct., Grass Valley, CA 95945.

Does Jada publish sightline widths or maximum sizes?

No. Jada describes its sightlines as narrow but gives no width in inches or millimeters. It also gives no maximum door or window size on its product pages. Ask for both in writing before you design around a specific opening.

What energy data does Jada publish?

Jada publishes NFRC sample U-factor and SHGC ratings for an outswing door, outswing window, folding door and sliding door. They use sample glass, so your project glass will differ. Full ratings are searchable on NFRC.org under "Jada, Inc."

Does Jada offer a product warranty?

Jada does not publish a product warranty on the pages Honey Rock reviewed. Ask for the warranty terms in writing before you order, including finish and glass seal coverage.

Does Jada make French doors?

Jada does not use the term French door. It makes steel door pairs, and its swing doors lock into the inactive door with multipoint locking. For a French-style look, ask for a steel door pair.
