# Storm rating (windborne debris)

A windborne debris rating shows that a window or door passed a test for resisting flying debris and pressure from high winds.

In a severe storm, wind can throw objects at your house. A product with a windborne debris rating has been tested by striking the unit with test debris and then loading it with wind pressure. To pass, it must stay in the opening without a hole.

The rating belongs to the full assembly, so frame, glass and anchors all matter. It is usually built on [impact-resistant glass](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/glossary/impact-resistant-glass) and [laminated glass](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/glossary/laminated-glass).
