# Pivot door

A pivot door turns on a hinge point set in the floor and head instead of side hinges.

A pivot door rotates on a vertical axis. Because the pivot point sits away from the edge, the door can be very tall and wide and still swing smoothly. It becomes a statement entry.

Our partner Jada says its pivot doors pivot on a hydraulic floor pivot. The [pivot hinge](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/glossary/pivot-hinge) carries the weight, so the floor and head must be built to hold it. Ask about weather exposure and drainage at the base. Our [pivot door buying guide](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/guides/pivot-door-buying-guide) walks through the choices, and our [pivot doors](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/pivot-doors) page shows the system.
