# Bifold door

A bifold door has hinged panels that fold flat and stack to one or both sides of the opening.

Panels are joined in pairs by hinges. When you push the door open, the pairs fold against each other like an accordion. The whole wall can open with the panels stacked neatly to one side.

Sun Windows describes its bi-fold doors as a combination of clad-wood door panels and innovative folding door hardware developed by Centor Architectural. Bifolds suit wide openings, though the stack takes up some of the opening. Compare options in our [folding doors](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/folding-doors) pillar. Also see [multi-slide door](https://honeyrock.multisites.ai/glossary/multi-slide-door) as an alternative way to open a wall. Ask how the panels lock and how the bottom track handles water.
